Wheelchair and Accessibility Terms

  • Wheelchair access to Masjid Al-Haram is available through several designated gates, including King Abdul Aziz Gate (Gate 1), Al-Safa, Al-Marwah, King Fahd (Gate 79), Gate 94, and others.

  • Gate 11 is the main entrance for wheelchair users, with additional ramps available at Gates 10 and 43.

  • Free wheelchairs are available near Safa Gate (Gate 11), but a valid ID is required as a deposit. Please note that no staff is provided to push these wheelchairs.

  • If you require someone to push a wheelchair, this service is available outside Gate 13 for approximately 50 SAR. However, we do not recommend using unlicensed pushers, as they may leave you stranded if approached by authorities.

  • If bringing your own wheelchair, a permit must be obtained from the office near Gate 12 to access Masjid Al-Haram. Personal wheelchairs are generally restricted from the ground floor and should be used on upper floors.

  • Access to the first floor for wheelchair users is available via ramps near Babul Umrah, Babul Fatah, and the Royal Palace. Elevators are also available near Safa Gate.

  • A special wheelchair track is available on the first floor overlooking the Mataaf for performing Tawaf.

  • Toilets with accessibility features are available around the mosque courtyard.

  • Copies of the Qur’an in Braille are available for visually impaired pilgrims.

  • Emergency gates and escalators are operational within the Haram for safety and ease of access.
